Lepanto Solera Gran Reserva, Brandy de Jerez, Andalusia, Spain
Lepanto Solera Gran Reserva, Brandy de Jerez, Gonzalez Byass S.A., Jerez de la Frontera, Andalusia, Spain
A grand seigneur
A luminous topaz colour tinged with golden orange, with full-bodied aromas of caramel, chocolate and vanilla. The taste is reminiscent of freshly roasted hazelnuts and fruity, sweet raisins. A great brandy with a slim body and a light peppery finish. Its astonishing depth and intensity comes from 15 years of ageing in barrels in the Solera method. An easily recognizable brandy.
The bodega Gonzalez Byass was started in 1835 by Manuel Maria Gonzalez Angel as a small sherry winery in Jerez de la Frontera. It uses casks made of American oak, some of which have been continually used to make sherry and brandy since 1869. Incidentally, the bodega’s maturing cellar was designed by the French engineer Gustave Eiffel in 1862.
Alcohol by volume: 36%, serving temperature: 16–18°C.
