A day in paradise begins with a smile. Your eyes are still closed, the scent of tropical flowers hangs in the air and the sounds of the ocean can be heard in the background. Lying in the middle of the Indian Ocean, on a plateau at the southern point of the Jimbaran Peninsula and nestled among breathtaking nature, Italian architect Antonio Citterio created the first resort hotel for the well-known luxury brand. It’s almost not worth mentioning that this hotel has six stars, because luxury and exclusivity can be seen in every corner, in every loving detail such as the hand-made tableware or the silk materials interlaced with threads of gold and silver.

Each of the overall 59 villas is over 300 square metres in area, traditional Balinese elements are mixed with contemporary design, and a private swimming pool and sun terrace are just as much part of the package as is the unobstructed ocean view. Give yourself a quick pinch – it’s all true and not a dream. A glassed-in elevator takes you 150 metres down the cliffs to the hotel’s private beach where beach chairs and parasols invite you to relax.

The spa area is also all about relaxation. Each of the eight treatment rooms has a garden with rainwater shower as well as a pool with waterfall massage and whirlpool jets. After a beneficial massage you can then head off to the fitness studio, the beauty salon, or perhaps to the golf course located only 15 minutes away, for a drink in the hotel bar or back to your own villa, where the butler puts out fresh fruit every day. You are spoilt by choice and that’s one of the ways you may yet feel a bit of stress in paradise.

In the evenings when the sun sinks into the sea, Italian delicacies at “Il Ristorante“ will quell your appetite. If you love Indonesian cuisine, take a seat in the Sangkar Restaurant and enjoy the pleasant air by candlelight. A day in paradise ends as it began: with a smile.
