The new Acropolis Museum in Athens offers both insight and breathtaking views. The building made of glass and steel is worth a visit for its unusual architecture alone. The roof provides visitors with a fantastic view of the city and the Acropolis.

On the ground level the transparent flooring gives the impression of floating on air, providing spectacular views of the foundation with excavations of dwellings from antiquity up to the 13^th century. The museum is home to priceless archaeological treasures from Greek antiquity. The inspired design by Swiss architect Bernard Tschumi enables the exhibits to reflect different kinds of light throughout the day.

The Parthenon Frieze on the top level is the crowning finale. Approximately 40 percent of the existing sculpture is owned by the museum. The remainder is only a copy as, much to the chagrin of the Greeks, the originals known as the Elgin Marbles are on display at the British Museum in London.
